Pooping blood? Seriously, help?!

Question: Pooping blood.? Seriously, help.?
Today when I was in the toilet, I pooped out blood. I needed to do my 'business around 11am, but I held it in for 5hrs before going. This has happened more than once when I hold it in.

What kind of damage will this cause to me.? What should I do.?Health Question & Answer

When you poop, is it soft or is it hard to get out. If it isn't soft you may be tearing the inside of your rectum (fistulas) and they bleed when your bowels move. You could also have hemorrhoids and they bleed. You need a lot of fiber (cereals & salads are good) or take a fiber supplement like Metamucil or Fiber Con if your BM's are hard. hard BM's will usually always cause bleeding. Try not to hold it, that is the worse thing you can do. also you need tons of water, do you drink a lot of water.? If not, start now, there has to be a lot of liquid in the colon. If you try these remedies and they don't help, go see a Doctor. There is always a chance of cancer but I think it is holding your BM and maybe it's too hard from not enough liquid or not enough fiber or you have fistulas or hemorrhoids.Health Question & Answer

Pooping blood is a sign of cancer but I HIGHLY doubt that is what you have so don't freak like answerer number 1 is trying to get you to do! You could have a hemroid and I say this because you say you held you poop for a Long time (Not good btw!) A hemroid Will make you poop blood. Either way yes you should go to your docs because a hemroid is treated only by meds from doc office such as a pill or cream. Don't freak. Just go to the doc.Health Question & Answer

There are actually quite a few reasons why you might have blood in your poop. You may have cancer or hemorrhoids. Some of them could be serious. Most of them are not. The first thing you need to ask yourself is, "How do I know it's blood.?" You may not have realized this before, but there are actually several foods that can make your poop look bloody. Tomatoes and beets can turn your stools red. That makes sense now that you think about it, doesn't it.? Other possibilities include blueberries, licorice, iron supplements, Pepto-Bismol--all of these can turn your stools black, which looks a lot like blood in your poop. So the first thing you need to eliminate as a cause is your diet. Have you eaten any of these foods or taken any of these substances in the last 18 hours.?Health Question & Answer
