Do you need a reference from a family doctor to go to an optometrist?!

Question: Do you need a reference from a family doctor to go to an optometrist.?
I want to go get an eye exam, and I was just wondering if my family doctor would have to give me a reference or if I can just make an appointment directly with the optometrist. (I'm in Toronto Canada if that makes any difference)

Answers:
No, you don' t need a reference from your family doctor. Your insurance if they cover vision should pay about 80% of it and you will pay 20% but only for the eye vision exam. For prescription contacts or glasses you will have to pay out of pocket.Health Question & Answer

You should be able to make an appointment directly with the Optometrist.Health Question & Answer
