When you hear a high pitch buzzing sound in your ears, does this mean you are losing tones and going deaf?!

Question: When you hear a high pitch buzzing sound in your ears, does this mean you are losing tones and going deaf.?
I've heard that when you hear high pitch buzzing noises it means that you are losing some of your hearing capabilities so I am wondering if this is true.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
No. The high pitch "ringing/buzzing" noise is called tinnitus & as long as you don't have it all the time it is totally ok. Tinnitus is generally caused by exposure to loud noise and will go away after a short time (within mins usually). Though tinitus doesnt mean you're going deaf you should always limit your exposure to loud noise as that WILL damage your hearing. Rarely tinnitus can be a sign of other medical conditions such as meniere's disease so if the buzzing doesn't go away or you start feeling dizzy or feint, see your doctor immediately. In general tinnitus is NOT something to worry about. Health Question & Answer
