I got my tongue pierced on monday and its now Saturday only yesterday and today i looked at the tounge and saw that aroung and slightly inside the hole itself that the bar is going through there is a white/light yellow discharge type liquid inside and around...im worried that my tongue is infected also my tongue is a whit-ish colour (the taste buds themselves are like white) im worried because im not sure whether its infected or not !
is it .? Health Question & Answer

Answers:
The discharge is normal. It is dead cells/blood plasma which means the piercing is healing. It is actually called 'lymph.' I had the same stuff coming out of my tongue piercing when i first had it done. Make sure you are rinsing/brushing after EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. Food, drinks, cigarettes, whatever! No beer for at least a week after getting it done or you can get a yeast infection in your mouth.

My taste buds look a bit white after I had it done also. I think it was plaque because I could not brush my tongue very well/hard because it was very sore and a little swollen. If you are worried about an infection go see your piercer and they can tell you what to do.

also, use the H2Ocean salt water mouth wash. It is great at cleaning and promotes healing. It is natural an very gentle on your body. I used it for 2 months solid after I had my tongue done and never had a problem with infections or anything! You can find it at many tattoo/piercing shops, hot topic, or online at http://h2ocean.com/Health Question & Answer

The white on the taste buds is from what you are eating, but the whole is infected. Go see your doctorHealth Question & Answer
