Answers:
What it is: Salicylic acid is an ingredient used in many over-the-counter acne medications. It is often found with pads as applicators (such as Stri-dex pads). It is also used to treat other skin disorders including dandruff, psoriasis, calluses, corns, warts, and more.

What it does: Acne is formed when skin cells inside hair follicles shed too fast and clump together, plugging up the follicle and causing a pimple. Salicylic acid helps slow down shedding of the cells inside the follicles, preventing clogging. Salicylic acid also helps break down blackheads and whiteheads.

Things to be aware of while using it:
(see full story for details) Unless your doctor advises you otherwise, people should avoid the other over the counter medications I list: sulfur, resorcinol, or benzoyl peroxide, while using salicylic acid, as it may be overly irritating.

People often report a mild stinging when applying the product.

ADD: its simple enough...its used to help acne and sometimes stings the skin..Health Question & Answer

It is sometimes used to treat acne, psoriasis, calluses, corns, keratosis pilaris, and warts. It works by causing the upper layer of skin to shed off. This causes the problem to disappear to some extent by removing the skin. It can help acne by effectively cleaning off the top layer of skin so unblocking the pores.
Can be used as a food preservative.
Side effects - undesired amount of irritation to the skin or digestive system if too much taken as a food preservative - or if there is a sensitivity to it.

Its an Ingredient put into many facial cleansers to help reduce Acne- which is when you have a bunch of pimples all over your face.
Basically it just removes excess dirt and oil from your pores- lil holes on your skin, that clog ( fill up) your pores, making your skin react to the dirt and oils causes pimples this ingredient makes the pimple dry out, and it reduces redness and inflammation ( swelling) clearing up your acne, and clearing up your face. It doesnt really have any side effects unless your allergic to it, which is rare in that case i would assume( guess) that your face gets red and itchy, But you may feel a tingly (mild stinging) sensation ( feeling) on your skin when applaying which is completely normal. Hope i helped :)Health Question & Answer
