I think the problem is that ear plugs are meant to muffle noise not block it out all together. Your pinnas or the cartalage around your ears still pick up vibrations even though the actual hole is plugged, and the plug muffles the noise so that you do not get ear damage from loud noises.

Have you tried Simply Sleep.? I have found that this sleep aid really helped me when I was having trouble sleeping, and it is nonhabbit forming. It is an antihistomine so it slows down your nervious system enough so your brain isn't cycling quickly and waking you up. also, try slow deep breathing. With your ear plugs in, the sound of your breathing should drown out any other noises in the house or yard so that you can slip into sleep easier.

Good luck. Not sleeping is a terrible thing. Health Question & Answer

Go to the nearest sporting goods store and ask the clerk. Firm ones for swimming, spongy ones for lawn mowing. Ear muffs for shooting. Etc. The spongy ones would probably be OK. for you. Instead, I would put a radio next to my bed (I have one), plug in a line with an ear bud on the other end and listen to music, news ...or put in a boring tape.Health Question & Answer

I had these ones that were really good. I think they were wax cotton ear plugs. Blocked out everything and I went into a deep sleep. Try walgreens or something. Sorry I couldn't help more =/Health Question & Answer
