I dehydrate easily and then get low blood pressure. What should I do?!

Question: I dehydrate easily and then get low blood pressure. What should I do.?
I get dehydrated very easily. I don't know why but I always have. I normally have low-normal blood pressure, but when ever I get dehydrated my blood pressure goes pretty low. also, when I exercise, I get exercise induced edema which is better when I drink more and do something with my hands while exercising (i.e. use a walking stick while hiking does the trick nicely).

Is there anything in particular that these symptoms point to.? In the past I have just been told to stay hydrated and deal with the edema (by medical professionals) but I usually need to carry 50-100% more water then most of the people I hike with (I'm a 6'1", average weight(for height), 23 year old woman).

Any thoughts.?

Thanks in advance.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Try adding a little salt to your diet. Salt keeps H20 in your body which will keep you hydrated and keep bp up. You will likely have to deal with edema by doing this so it will be a balancing act, just elevate your feet above the level of your heart to reduce swellingHealth Question & Answer
