Does this sound strange to you?!

Question: Does this sound strange to you.?
I just got back from the doctors office,
for constant dizziness that has been going on
for almost 2 months straight.
They told me to take mucinex for it
and come back in two weeks.
The side effects of that INCLUDE dizziness.
They said it helps with balance,
but I took it yesterday and today,
and it feels to me like it's making it worse.
They told me if it continues,
to come back in two weeks.
I just don't think it sounds right
to tell me to take mucinex
if the dizziness is that severe.
Maybe I'm overreacting,
but does anyone else feel like
they should have done something more.?
I'm very confused. lol
I feel like they're not taking my health seriously.Health Question & Answer

Yeah that is strange, your doctor should have looked further into what might be causing you to be dizzy. What kind of tests did they do.? You said that they looked inside your ears and they didn't see anything, so your ear being built up inside is probably out for reasons why you have been dizzy. I am not a doctor, but that is just my guess:) The other weird thing is that they haven't given you any other kind of medicine besides the one that you have been trying and obviously that is not working): Did you try calling the pediatric nurse.? I would probably recommend that you do, because she might be able to give you more information about why you are feeling dizzy and some other possible causes of it. And yes, I do think that the doctor should have done something else to help you to not feel the way that you have been feeling:) If it makes you feel any better, I have had a plugged ear for almost a week now): Hope I helped!!!Health Question & Answer

You dizziness can be caused by fluid build up in your inner ear. The medication your dr suggested you try is used to help loosen mucous and fluid which would then drain from your inner ear. It may take a couple of weeks for it to drain completely which is why your dr suggested you come back in a couple of weeks. Sounds like your doctor is trying to treat the cause (fluid in the ear) of the symptom (dizziness) which would in turn get rid of the symptom. Give it a try.Health Question & Answer

Okay, I'm not a doctor, but from what I have read on the label, Mucinex is for phlegm in the lungs. Dizziness can be caused by any number of reasons but I have never heard of a causation that starts in the lungs. If you have a serious ear infection that might be the cause. Our balance is attached to the ears - don't ask me how, you will have to look that up - and can be addressed with a number of different treatments. Go see an ear/throat/nose specialist and see what he has to say. Sometimes it might take at CAT or MRI to see what the problem is.Health Question & Answer

I think you already have some good advice. If their help to you does not seem right, try and see another doctor. Remember Medicine does not work right away. Take care and I hope you are feeling better soon.
