Answers:
According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the most venomous spider is the Brazilian Wandering Spider (Phoneutria nigriventer). I found a picture of it at

These are the spiders that live in banana trees. Their bite is supposed to be *very* painful.

I've also read (in the World Almanac) that another very dangerous spider is in Australia. It's called the Sydney funnel spider (Atrax robustus). Here's a picture:

A bite hurts, can make you vomit, sweat profusely, and make your mouth water.

Of course, there's always the black widow spider. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_widow... has information and pictures about the different species. They live mostly in North America. A bite can cause muscle pain, trouble breathing, vomiting, and the bite swells up.

The really bad reactions don't happen with every bite, and now there is antivenon to help prevent deaths from bites. Health Question & Answer

If I remember correctly, it is the funnel web spider in Australia.

If you really want the most 'violent/easily provoked' spider that strikes quickly and has little tolerance - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazilian_w...

The Brazilian wandering spider. Guiness recognized it as the most dangerous. It's not the daddy long legs, like many think.Health Question & Answer
