number 2, 8 hours... i was stuck in traffic, between two exits... i couldn't move because... there was construction that was already obstructing everything in a big way.... then, get this... earlier that day a pedestrian bridge fell onto the interstate and hit a couple tractor trailors... so thus... we had the construction.. a ped. bridge struck by a truck carrying something too large to pass under it and two large trucks (one i think was a double) that were trapped under the bridge and about 10 miles of traffic backed up until enough police and emt's came around to reroute things and clear up the mess just enough folks could start working their way around.
it was really tough, it was august and hotter than hell!
i had water.... it kept me comfy enough to keep me going... problem was.. i ate.... and well, water is a good hydrant.. and i started to worry big time what was going to happen to my bowels if things didn't soon let up.
i think the red cross was soon notified, the heat and sicker people stuck in traffic... wasn't as bad as the suicide that was on the woodrow wilson bridge we had years later... where 17 plus miles was backed up.. red cross was alerted and all sorts of madness was going about...
but i was home for that one...
i think it was 8 hours sitting in one place.. i listened to a tape several times that i never had the chance to listen to before... in the car.. it helped pass... (no pun intended) the time. i also had my old console sized cell phone with me.. so i could get some other business on my mind other than the #2.

About five days. I was 19 years old and went to basic training and it took me that long before I was able to do number 2. Lots of guys had that problem. Arrived on a Sunday. By Friday the latrine was a very busy place.
