I am nervous to go get a phisical and i don't no what they do!?!

I am assuming you are a male (your little icon) and though I am not a male I can definitely understand your nervousness... But anyways to answer your question... in a physical they will do the normal... take blood pressure, take pulse, height, weight, listen to lungs, look in your eyes, and ears, they might give you a vision test or a hearing test... they will do a general physical exam of your body... the weirdest part of this is they will most likely do a brief exam of your genitals which can sometimes be a bit awkward (Just remember they do this all day long so its not weird to them... so try to relax) and on occasion they will do an anal exam which is again really awkward... in this exam the doctor or nurse will insert 1 or 2 well lubricated fingers into your rectom (butt) ... this can be kind of uncomfortable but just remember the more you relax and don't tense up the more comfortable it will be and they will do a finger prick which doesn't really hurt its just a quick little pinch/prick it kinda feels like accidentally poking your finger with a sewing needle. In the physical exams that I have had they don't usually do a blood draw though I have had alot of blood draws done for various reasons... what I do is first off don't look at the needle and don't think about the blood draw... also I try to keep myself distracted... so like I usually use the other arm to mess with my phone... maybe text someone... preferably someone who will text back rather quickly ... or if you dont have a phone... try... keeping your mind occupied ... like by doing a math problem in your head or somthing ... blood draws don't really hurt.. the only parts that kind of hurt are when the first put the needle in and when they pull the needle out... that just feels like a big pinch... yea if your immunizations aka shots are not up to date they will give you some... again just try not to think about it... and don't look at it... for this one I usually just try to remember to breathe and then I count to five (slowly) they dont hurt that much its just a pinch and then sometimes it stings a little... get one done at least once a year for obvious health resons like catching cancer in the early stages. If ur 18, u have autonomy (consent) and can reject any procedures like shots or bloodwork, but i suggest u get them. Shots dont hurt unless ur getting the HPV one. Health Question & Answer
