i have the runs, its painful, i have a period too.? my tummy is hurting alot, i want to eat but it has consequences... i want to get back to college and work on monday, any suggestions as to what can help or make me feel better.? pleaaaase. thanks. whatever helps gets a best answer!Health Question & Answer

I'm sorry you don't feel well...

I used to get the runs when my period would start - never understood why, but maybe hormone changes.

Anyway, you should cut back on refined sugars (cereals, cookies, breads, etc). You should also stay away from high fiber stuff like fruits, fruit juices and vegetables.

Try eating some white rice that is a bit on the sticky side (don't rinse it too well before cooking). Don't use brown rice as that's got more fiber and will just prolong your problem.


If you decide to use an over-the-counter product, please be cautious about using Imodium. The reason it works is because it stops the bowel from moving whatever is in your gut. So it actually doesn't help you, it just stops the machinery, if you will.

You need to eliminate the crud in your system by eating bland foods that will help give you a more solid stool.

dont eat any meat, dairy, or too much sugar. eat potatoes, pasta, bread.... and drink some v8 vegetable juice. then when you feel better, start to eat normally again.Health Question & Answer
