Why not the doctor first?!
Question: Why not the doctor first.?
I always see people here saying "HELP!! I think I have....[disease]!!" My question is if you think you're sick, or if your kid has symptoms, or whatever it may be, why are people asking Yahoo! Answers if they are sick or something before going to the doctor.?!.?! I just don't get it. Some of the things people describe here, I would have been to the doctor LONG before I let it get to that point. What's the reason behind waiting for Yahoo! to tell you to go to the doctor.?Health Question & Answer

I completely understand what you are trying to say. However, some people may not have the knowledge to know if an illness is serious or not. Others may be embarrassed about their illness or situation and may feel too scared to go to the doctors (especially for sexually transmitted diseases or other problems surrounding those areas), this problem might be worse if your family knows the doctor etc and can be frightening and embarrassing.
Furthermore, perhaps going to the doctors is a chore in itself - if you live in a town, with the one doctors and everyone knows each other, then you will probably be seen in the doctors and people may ask questions as to why you are there etc, so lack of privacy and dignity.
also, some people may worry that they are wasting their doctors time, and don't want to keep going in, when they are unsure if something is wrong. If they ask on yahoo first, at least they may be reassured that going to the doctors is the right thing to do.
Often people just need reassurance.

people just want advice for something, or they may feel that doctor isn't always the beast thing to do if u just have a dodgy head ache or something, they will go to the doctors but the y want to make sure first Health Question & Answer
