My parents found my cigs....PLEASE HELPPP ME!!!?!

Question: My parents found my cigs....PLEASE HELPPP ME!!!.?
First off, please don't tell me how smokings bad for me, or how im going to die at 20,,, because thats not what i need. Anyway, last night i went out side for a cigarette, about 1 minute after i lit up i heard someone inside, so i qiuckly put it out. Long storey short after my mom whent back to bed i went outside grabbed the but and flushed it down the tiolet. When i woke in the morning i found out that the but that i flushed didn't go down, and one of my parents saw it. My dad searched my bag and found my pack. Non of my parents smoke and they have found my pack once before. this time they grounded me for a weak (right before thanksgiving break). but the worst part about this thing is that if they find anything that has to do with smoking or drinking etc. agian, they might take me out of my school. This school is the best thing that has happened to me, so taking me out would get me way more stressed and then make me smoke more.
by the way im not sorry for smoking, just for getting caught, im 14 and i am going to quit when i turn 18. PLEASE NOTHING BUT GOOD ADVICE.Health Question & Answer

Ok. Yes the best thing you could do is quit. I started smoking when I was 12. I am now 28 and just quit in May. When I was a teenager I was an off and on smoker and I got caught smoking quite frequently and was grounded for it almost all the time. So here are some things that I learned from experience...

1. You may think your parents are dumb but they really aren't...They will know if you are lying to them.

2. You will not be able to quit smoking until YOU want to quit...It doesn't matter what anyone tells you.

3. Chances are your parents will not take you out of school even if they say they will. Private school is expensive and while you can home school that probably won't be the best idea either.

Now for some advice.

1.) Talk to you parents about being stressed. Maybe you might need to see a councelor.

2.) Cut down smoking or quit all together...(you say you will quit when you are 18 but you are just lying to yourself). If your friends all push you to smoke...well the best course would be to tell them to stuff it and if they were really friends they would be ok with you not smoking...but I remember peer pressure at age 14 so maybe just smoke around your friends.

3.) If you do decide to keep smoking RESPECT your parents enough to not smoke in/around their house and them. Not only will that help you cut down on smoking but it will also lessen the chances of you getting caught.

I hid my smoking from my parents for years. My mom knew but since I never smoked around her and never smoked around my house it was always out of sight out of mind.

I do encourage you to quit now though. It is very hard to quit after you have been smoking for quite a few years. I was able to quit cold turkey but I really wanted to quit.

Really think about why you smoke...there is probably not a real good answer. Health Question & Answer

lol! You're not going to quit when you're 18. You're hooked, and you can't quit now. Not without the help of your parents, who happen to love you very much. If you really know what cigarettes will do to you, prove you can quit and do it now ~ that's the best advice anyone can give you. You think your parents finding out you smoke is the worst that can happen.? You're a genius. Cancer, emphysema, and heart disease are a major trio of bitchery.Health Question & Answer

Dude, this is just dumb. You're not gonna quit when you're 18, that's the addiction talking. Quit NOW. Forget about how you're ruining your health and think about how much money you're wasting on this stupid crap. You could save the money you spend on cigs and buy a PS3 or something.

EDIT: Maybe if you QUIT NOW your parents will respect you again and you will feel better. Think about it.Health Question & Answer

You obviously know that smoking is bad for you, but did you know that when you start smoking at a young age your lungs stop developing. So, if you keep on smoking then you will have the lungs of an adolescent for the rest of your life. I'm not too sure how much physical activity you do now, but it really does make a difference. You say that your school is the best thing that has ever happened to you and if you get caught again you'll get taken out. So, you should ask yourself if it is worth it.?Health Question & Answer

If you TRUELY felt that your school was that important for you and you are faced with an ultimatum, then I would think that it makes the choice easy. Keep going to school and hanging out just not with the cigs. Why put a mundane time frame to smoke anyway.? "18 and I'll quit", quit not and be done with it. NO issues with the parental units and you get to stay in school.

If it stress is the reason you smoke, then find another outlet (workout, paint, something).Health Question & Answer

I think you should talk to a close friend and the parents of a close friend who won't get you in trouble with your parents, about ways you can cope with this situation. Perhaps the answer isn't to punish you at all.

And if you coordinate efforts to address the problem at school, with a friend, someone you trust who won't punish you, that would be the best. If your parents are more understanding than I'm assuming, I think your friend and you should share in writing a letter to your parents about why the issue is not about punishment but understanding the plusses and minuses of why you are where you are.

Your parents THINK punishing you is for your own benefit, but I think they'd be surprised to know in this case, being punished is not going to solve anything. On your own, if you can help it, you should try to smoke as little as you can help it, and make it a goal to cut back on the smoking until you reach the quitting point.

Start working on quitting the smoking now, but make a goal to cut back by half by say next year, you can work slowly on the goal, it doesn't have to be quit tomorrow.

If you want to quit by age 18, then you need to start working on it every day until you're 18 so by the time you ARE 18, you won't be smoking anymore.Health Question & Answer

Stop smoking.

Sorry, but you asked for "please nothing but good advice". And that's the absolute BEST advice anyone can give you about this.

I won't tell you that you are going to die at 20, even though there is a small chance you actually could. Not all fatal smoking related diseases always take decades to develop. A few very unlucky people develop them in just a few years. But I will tell you that at 14, several parts of your body are still developing. So smoking at your age is actually more dangerous than it is for adults.

And what do cigs cost these days.? $4.00 a pack or more.? You'd be surprised how fast the cost of smoking adds up, and what you could do with that money instead of buy "cancer sticks".

What should you do.? Quit. And tell your parents you want to quit. And ask them to support your efforts to quit. If you slip up, be honest with them. But if they think you are really trying to quit, then you are less likely to get in trouble if you tell them "I slipped up and smoked a cigarette today. But I want to get right back on track."

Having the support of loved ones really does help when you are trying to quit. Make your parents your allies in this effort. Not your enemies.

---
Give you advice that "will make you feel better.?". Sorry kid, I'm not gonna lie and try to make you feel better about smoking. I'd be telling you what you want to hear instead of what is the truth if I did that.

The damage is NOT done when it comes to your parents. If you are honest with them and you really are trying to quit. They will be less likely to ground you / pull you out of school if you have a slip up. But you have to be honest with your "support crew" when you are trying to quit.

I gave you the best advice I can. Quit, let your parents know you want to quit, and make them your allies instead of your enemies when it comes to supporting your efforts to quit.

Having the support of loved ones is very important when trying to quit.Health Question & Answer

It's not the getting cancer thing that bugs me about smoking - people who smoke - their breath stinks, their teeth and fingers are yellow and they age badly.
I guess if you do die early - you will stink, be yellow and have lots of wrinkles. I guess it is your choice
