Don't worry, it's not as bad as you are probably thinking it will be. There are always side effects to everything and for what you are having done it's very rare to not wake up. Health Question & Answer

Chances are almost 100% that you will wake up.
When people are put under full anesthesia, there is one person who's only job is to watch the drug input and your condition and vitals. She or He is one of the most educated, experienced and highly paid people in the room.
First, they will give you something to make you less nervous, then they will start an IV. Then they will put a mask over your face and ask you to count backwards. Next thing you know, you will be waking up in another room all drowsy and you will be happy because the operation will be over. No sweat.Health Question & Answer

I have been put to sleep 5 times. 2 heart surgeries, 2 knee, and an appendix removal. I had open heart surgery at age 4 and was put to sleep, and I had a veeeeeeeeeeery slim chance of surviving (could have gone into cardiac arrest, something else go wrong, etc a 4 year old is just strong enough to hold a heart surgery). I survived it, along with the other times. I know it can be scary to think of being put to sleep, but it will go fine. One minute you are sitting there, they will tell you they are putting the anesthetic through, and within a few seconds you are out, and the next thought you have is waking up. It seems like no pass of time has passed.

Unless you have any sort of health issues, such as heart problems (I have a rare heart disease for example) then you may have a slim chance that waking up could go wrong, but even then it's slim. When I had my knee surgery, I was offered to stay awake for the whole surgery, but I decided to be put to sleep instead, despite my heart problems. Why.? It was a simple surgery, nothing to worry about. Health Question & Answer

really low. don't worry about it. you will be fine. there is around a 2% chance you won't wake up. it's very unlikely. actually, you won't not wake up, it would be that you went into cardiac arrest and they couldn't revive you, but that's sooooo unlikely seeing as how you aren't haveing surgery on your lungs or heart or anything like that. you'll be fine, try not to worry.Health Question & Answer

The chances you won't wake up again are 1/1,000,000.000 or less. I've had oral surgery with 'general anesthetic' several times, and I'm still here, just fine, as are many millions of other people in the world. Health Question & Answer
