What is the actual size of needles (gauge or diameter in mm) used for blood donations?!
Question: What is the actual size of needles (gauge or diameter in mm) used for blood donations.?
I'm planning to donate blood in the near future. People always say, that the needles they use for this are sort of extra-large. Now I would like to know what to expect.
I have donated plasma a few times some years ago and didn't have a problem with the kind of needles they had. So can I safely assume that a blood donation won't be a problem either.?
Is there a difference as to the size of needle they use.?
Thx!Health Question & Answer

they have always used an 18 gage on me, it hurts a small bit, i won't lie to you, but nothing worse than having it took at a doctors office, as for the blood itself, it can make u a bit sick to look at, but i think you will be fine.Health Question & Answer
It's no problem! Set your fear aside. You'll be fine just like when you donated plasma. REALLY!Health Question & Answer
