My daughter is sixteen months and is vaccine free. I refuse to inject her with toxic chemicals and pretend everything is okay. Recently my husband has been talking about joining the air force until he's done with med school. Is there a vaccine waver for the military.? I have friends that have children that are not vaccinated and are military. I was on 909shot.com looking at state and county wavers but no military ones. Childhood diseases like polio chicken pox etc are not as dangerous as they make them out to be, and they can be treated with regular medication. In some rare cases they are serious, but they are rare, and probably not worth risking a bad reaction from a vaccine (which by the way does not guarantee any protection).
EDIT: My dearest Rockmum, I'm so sorry for what you went through with your baby. But she didn't necessarily contract whooping cough from an unvcaccinated child. It's possible the child was vaccinated, and still infected. Ask your ped if vaccinating guarantees protection 100%. And there are parents out there who don't vaccinate because of a really bad reaction to vaccines. And by that I don't mean autism, I mean serious complications, even death.
A good percentage of doctors also, don't vaccinate.
Vaccines weaken your immune system, they don't strenthen it. It's possible that, that one needle did more harm than good. Dr's don't always tell you things the way they are.

The risk of autism in a girl is very low compared to a boy because there is a genetic component. The preservative in vaccines is blamed for triggering Autism. The vaccines can be ordered by your doctor to avoid combining the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), which is the vaccine blamed most often.

Here's an educated opinion from somebody who's on the way to becoming a good doctor and not a sh!tty one. Vaccines are extremely safe and complications are very rare. Compare that to the benefit of contracting polio or rubella, and only morons don't get the damn shot. It's paranoia, not an education, that breeds this type of distrust, this idiotic question, and the even stupider comments that followed. You're husband should hit the books a little harder if he thinks that vaccines are dangerous.

On a separate tangent, what does your husband thing of your decision.? Is he already in medical school.? Is your decision religious.? What have your physicians told you about not vaccinating.? How have they reacted or dealt with this decision.?

Why do you choose not to vaccinate at all.? I'm just curious. What will you do when it comes time for your kids to go to school.? Most public schools and daycares won't take kids that aren't. The risks of shots are very minimal in nature. Most people have no reaction at all. Plus the reason why so many diseases aren't prevalent anymore are because of shots. my newborn caught WHOOPING cough in 1996 and was in hospital for 2 weeks hooked up to oxygen and heart machines,,,, WHY.?,, because parents choose not to vaccinate causing these diseases to keep SPREADING,,, thanks so much!!!!!!!!

a newborn DOES not start receiving immunisations in australia till theyr 8weeks old
in australia in 1996 there were more than a few babies aged 6 weeks and under who sadly died, this happened as i was in hospital with my newborn [she was 9 weeks when she contracted it] luckily she had one immunisation only a week before, the drs said that VERY ONE NEEDLE saved her life,,, since then ive had another 3 children and they get their shots the day theyr due as i have seen how important immunisations are
if your childs life is not threatened by these diseases you will have no idea where im coming from,,,, but many parents have lived through these diseases and they understand, you child may be perfectly healthy without the shots,,,,, but if by chance at 5 years old they catch whooping cough theyll b perfectly well with a cough only,,, but if your child comes accross any newborns, THEY CAN DIE,,, please think about that, xxxxxx
