Question: Handwashing and laundry.?
Does anyone wash their hands after handling dirty laundry.? I am curious to know if I am the only one who washes hands after placing dirty laundry in the washer. I think it is gross to handle dirty underwear, socks, towels ect and then proceed with another task. Does anyone think about the germs and bacteria that is on our dirty clothing.?Health Question & Answer

No, but after my mom has been doing laundry for almost 50 yrs (for 5 then 6 of us), I don't recall her ever going to the dermatologist for any type of skin infection because of germs from laundry. Us either after she put her hands on the clothes and then on us. Now if you keep your dirts in a plastic bag sealed up and it is growing all kinds of things in there, then yes I would wash my hands after handling that kind of dirt. Otherwise in a normal open hamper or basket, no I don't wash my hands. I just washed my clothes, then ate and did not even give such a thought till you inquired.

Good for you. The Center for Disease Control stresses the importance of washing your hands using friction and soap for 30 seconds. Germs are everywhere and there are many more antibiotic resistent, so keep washing.Health Question & Answer

Yes I wash my hands after handling dirty clothing. I find it gross not to, since you will go on to another activity spreading all the germs on your hands. Not CleAn, you can even get sick.Health Question & Answer
