I'm afraid of having seizures....?!

Question: I'm afraid of having seizures.....?
Honestly, no history of epilepsy nor mental disorders. I'am 19, healthy, fit male. After an incident involving knee surgery, I began having panic attacks-but got them under control within a few months and was stuck with anxiety-that's going away pretty well without pills or anything of that matter (per need mostly). And I only start getting anxious and panicky when I begin to think about my head-and the pressure inside begins to build-so when I'm watching a movie and there is an intense scene for example, the pressure makes me jittery, I'm honestly just very afraid to have seizures-out of absolutely nothing-just scared-what are the chances.?

Without a history of seizures, and if you're over the age of 23 the chances are slim to none.

Fear of seizures will never cause a seizure. Seizures are the result of either epilepsy, which you apparently do not have, or a brain injury, which I did have. Subdural hemotoma resulting from a car accident. The seizures went away, thanks. No amount of internal stress can cause a seizure, they aren't psychosomatic. Having had two, I think I can alleviate you worries a bit.

Believe it or not, seizures don't cause any pain or anything. They're freaky for other people to watch but for the person experiencing them, it's just a blank period. You might feel a muscle tense up, blank, and then everyone is standing around worried. No big deal.

"...the pressure makes me jittery." You are caught in a...reinforcing stress loop.? I've done that before, too. Using your brain to analyze your mind will drive you absifucking insane eventually. It just doesn't work. You need to chill out. If you can't stop doing this, your choices are: go on stronger meds, drink alcohol and trade your liver for stability, or smoke pot. I really doubt any sort of therapy or anything will help you but I know plenty of thoughtful people who got stuck there for a period in their youth. It doesn't mean you are nuts, just a little too cerebral. Get out of your head. Sooner or later you should start to bore yourself.Health Question & Answer
