I have asthma and i was wondering?...?!

Question: I have asthma and i was wondering.?....?
whether if i did a gentle run/jog a couple of times a week it could build up and i could run properly.? I can't run i just get out of breath and can't carry on i get really embarrassed and upset when i come last in all the races! I'm getting an A in p.e at school but when it comes to the summer all we do is running and on our sports day almost all the activities are running. I'm a great swimmer and i have a cycling machine. So if i started jogging would i slowly begin to progress it into running.?.?.?

Yes, that's a good idea. Don't push yourself too hard, and make sure you've always got your reliever inhaler with you in case you need it. Some people like to use it before they exercise, to prevent an asthma attack from starting in the first place. And, of course, remember to take your other inhaler regularly, if you have one.

My brother has asthma, and swears it's improved loads since he started going to the gym regularly and got fitter. The more healthy you are, the easier it should be to control your asthma.Health Question & Answer

Yes , well it did in for me the more I ran the easier it was.Swimming however is if I remember what i was told at the time the best exercise for developing lung power which running needs.also if you are going to run use your inhaler (if you have one) just before because it widens the airwaves in your lungs making breathing easier when jogging.Health Question & Answer
