Question: Ambulance drivers .......?
How often are your services used for a taxi service and then find out that the person you just taxied to the hospital with a NON life-threatening condition has 20 people waiting for them .?Health Question & Answer

Where I live, they are billed for the ambulance if it is determined they didn't need it. Most times they are told this before the ambulance transports them. If they still want to go via ambulance, they sign a consent form agreeing to pay for the ride.Health Question & Answer

I've worked at a hospital for over 13 years, not as an ambulance driver, but I did make my rounds and saw a few non life threatening situations that had about 10-15 family members waiting for them. LOL
Ambulance rides are very expensive. Most do need to take you to the hospital though for just precaution. Even though you're not bleeding to death, if you get whiplash from a rear ender, or throw your back out, or neck out, they have to take that precaution. If you are ambulatory, they do ask you if you want them to take you and you have a choice. Health Question & Answer

That problem is something that exist EVERYWHERE!!! It is so frustrating to waste money and time transporting those to the hospital when there are 4 cars in the driveway and 10 people that can drive them .Unfortunately, the consensus among most people is "if I take an ambulance, I will get seen quicker". I'm not an ambulance driver, but my mother-in-law (get this, a well to do woman who figured a way to get on medicaid) used to call one every time she sneezed or broke wind. I think they finally explained to her that she would need to make other arrangements to get to the hospital.Health Question & Answer
Good question my friend. Our hospital doesn't play that game you are seen time you get there and then you are seen by the doctor by the seriousness off what wrong with you. medicaid suffers much because of this. here if it not needed you are billed for the ambulance ride. and it's almost a 1000 dollars.
