I swallowed a whole medicine thats supposed to be melted in water first?!

Question: I swallowed a whole medicine thats supposed to be melted in water first.?
i have been to doctor today and he prescribed me a zantac ranitidin 150 mg for my dry cough, he told me to take once on evening but never mentioned about melting the kinda big capsule first to water before drinking it (the pharmacist in the drugstore told me this) but i was having an upset stomach due to too much drinking of cacao chocolate and wasnt thinking straight so i forgot what the pharmacist said and i swallowed the whole medicine and drank a bit of water and was too late to spit it out when i remembered it should be melted. the capsule stayed in my throat for a few minutes but went down after drinking more water.

my question is, will that cause a very big problem if you take the capsule in the mouth that was supposed to be melted in water first.? im so scared i made a grave mistake! the last thing i want is to worsen my condition! pls help me!Health Question & Answer

It's likely that the reason you should have let the pill dissolve first was so that it could travel throughout your body faster. It shouldn't hurt you but you won't get the results from it that you would have had it been dissolved. My dad takes zantac and he never dissolved his first.Health Question & Answer

Drink lots of water, however i personally don't think it will cause damage, the only reason being is that it will dissolve in your body, instead of in a cup of water, and all that does is it makes it easier for your body to intake it, which in turn may mean that this pill may not have the greatest effect.Health Question & Answer

The Zantac might have less of an effect. However, if you feel light-headed or uncoordinated, go to the hospital immediately!Health Question & Answer
