I keep coughing up this white thing?!

Question: I keep coughing up this white thing.?
Every few months, after a sharp cough or sneeze I sometimes cough up this little white thing from the back of my throat. The closest thing I can describe it to is the chicken out of a pot noodle and it kinda smells pretty bad aswell.

Apparently it happened to my Mum and Dad a couple of times when they were younger. But it seems to happen every few months to me. So is it somthing to do with age.? Well i'm 17 anyways.

So my question is, what is it and what causes it and has this happened to anyone else.?Health Question & Answer
