How does caffeine affect those with ADD?!

Question: How does caffeine affect those with ADD.?
I've been diagnosed with ADD, and caffeine has always affected me a little differently than my friends. It makes me calmer and more relaxed, rather than hyper and jittery. Does this have to do with the ADD.? Is there any connection between the two.?Health Question & Answer

I know a lot of parents who won't do the ritalin thing and instead send their kids with that diagnosis to school with a thermos of coffee to get them through the day. It is because the brain is not stimulated enough to hold focus, that is why caffeine works just as well. also, Omega 3 deficits can lead to ADD, you can try adding some fish oil supplements to your diet.Health Question & Answer

It has to do with the functioning of your brain. I do not have ADD and caffeine effects me similarly to the way that it effects you. I would have to say there is not a connection, the way that caffeine effects a person tends to be hereditary.Health Question & Answer

I have a few friends with either ADD or ADHD, and yes, caffeine calms them down. a lot of the medications are actually a stimulant, so that any caffeine you take in calms you down even more. the two ar definitely connected, and there's no need to worry at all.Health Question & Answer

that's what it does for me!

I'm on ritalin and Concerta, and love it!!! I have ADD and ADHD. I know how you feel. And the meds that I'm on brought up my grades from Cs and Ds to As and Bs.

Good luckHealth Question & Answer

I have ADHD and really it should just make you feel like everyone else because you don't have that hyperactive part.Health Question & Answer
