Do you ever take night-time cold/flu pills just to fall asleep, even when you're not sick?!

Question: Do you ever take night-time cold/flu pills just to fall asleep, even when you're not sick.?
This is embarrassing but I will admit that I do take pills just to get the effects of the sedative and not necessarily for a cold/flu. I mean, I'm an insomniac, I don't know what else to do to fall asleep.

No, the only time I have trouble falling asleep is if I have some problem on my mind (or someone I love could be very sick or something that makes me feel helpless). I don't eat in bed. I don't watch tv. I no longer can read in bed (I fall asleep and the book falls on my face). My mind has decided that the bed (or more specifically, my soft and mushy pillow) means it's sleepy time so as soon as my head hits my pillow, I am asleep. I sometimes have trouble quitting whatever I'm doing to get myself washed up and into bed, and infrequently I have to spike my Sanka with Bailey's to get my eyes feeling too heavy to keep open (doesn't take much since I'm not much of a drinker).Health Question & Answer

Try Tylenol or Advil PM instead of cold pills. They're just as effective, but less likely to cause side effects, like addiction. Plus, if you take the cold pills, you could develop an immunity and they will not be effective when you really do have a cold.Health Question & Answer

I sometimes take a vicodin before bed.
It's no addiction though, it just helps sleep.Health Question & Answer
