I'm Having pain after taking an enema! Help Please!?!

Question: I'm Having pain after taking an enema! Help Please!.?
I've been seriously constipated for several weeks now. Tonight, I finally decided to just empty my bowl entirely with an enema. Took the enema, had a bowel movement but strained really really really really hard to make it come out. Then, shortly after... I began having short stabbing pain in my lower abdomen area on my right and left side (but mostly my right side). Now, it's not going away! (not getting much worse per say, but certainly not going away) On the pain scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the worst the pain reaches about a 7.

What do you think I might have done to cause this, and what course of action would be best for me to take at this point. Because it's starting to really bother me.Health Question & Answer

I would suggest you go to the emergency department at this point. Sounds like you could possibly have a bowel perforation. Any severe sudden onset abdominal pain like that needs to be evaluated by a physician. The possibility or bleeding or fecal matter leaking into your abdominal cavity is dangerous.
If you are having any difficulty breathing, dizziness, or chest pain call 911 and go by ambulance. Otherwise, have someone take you to the ER or take a cab. At this point, I would not suggest waiting until office hours to see your physician.Health Question & Answer

yah know how sometimes if you have waited to go to the bathroom for a realllllly long time, and you have a really bad stomachache afterwards and just feel sick.? thats probably what it is. especially if its been several weeks! it hurt for me too. just relax. go to sleep, and when you wake up you'll probably feel better. :):)Health Question & Answer

Sounds like the problem I had this time last year. I'm not a doctor and I don't want to be an alarmist, but perhaps you should go to an emergency room instead of being on Y/A. This time last year, the computer was the last place I ever thought I needed to be.Health Question & Answer

if you only did 1 enema you should do another to make sure the rest comes down and out.The pain is from the strain and most likely will ease up.Health Question & Answer
