Help with yeast infection for the first time?!

Question: Help with yeast infection for the first time.?
I'm almost positive I have a yeast infection because I'm getting all the symptoms and I'm on antibiotics which is a big cause of it. It said that when you get it for the first time you should go to a doctor to make sure its a yeast infection, cant I just go straight to over the counter medication.? I don't have sex, I'm 16 years old and on antibiotics and its the exact symptoms of it. So, its not going to be the other infections that's confused with yeast. I rather just go to the over the counter drugs because its too embarrassing to tell my father, who is my only parent. If I can do that, since I'm positive I have one, what do you recommend.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
yes - sounds like a yeast infection especially with being on antibiotics. I would try the 3 day cream - use at night so it stays in.
And in the future - ask your doctor for a prescription for Diflucan 150mg (one time doseing) to take when you are on antibiotics.
This all sounds like a yeast infection as long as you aren't having sex & it could be no chance of an STD.Health Question & Answer

Yeah it's a yeast infection. Go ahead and take some over the counter medication. If it doesn't clear up in 7 days definitely go to the doctor.

Oh and don't be ashamed to talk to your father about yeast infections or periods or whatever. He's aware of the fact that you have a vagina. Those two things come with the territory.Health Question & Answer

You may want to try OTC stuff first. If that doesn't help, you may have to go to the doctor and get a Rx for that.Health Question & Answer
