It sounds like you experienced spotting. That means you didn't have a full length period, because a reg. period will last a few days before it goes away. For that reason you might get your period really soon, since you didn't have a full one. However, after your first full length period, generally from the time one period starts (first day of one period) until the first day of your next period or the day before your next period starts, 21 to 35 days will pass if you're having normal periods. Don't worry. The period doesn't last that long! It lasts commonly about 3-5 days, but I think 2-7 is normal. While anywhere from a 21 to a 35 day cycle is normal, the average is 28. So IF you have a 28 day cycle and IF your period lasts 5 days (it doesn't have to, to be normal, but this is just an example), then you would have 5 days of bleeding, then the other 23 days would be non bleeding, then you'd bleed again. If you have a 35 day cycle and your period lasts 5 days then you bleed for 5 days and then take the next 30 days not bleeding.

If I'm giving you too much information, the simple answer is, your period will prob. last 3-5 days, and you can expect to bleed for a few days every month. So, generally this period thing is a monthly thing. HOWEVER, since this is your first period, do not worry if your period seems abnormal at first. It takes awhile for your menstrual (period) cycle to become normal. So if your period seems crazy at first, it's nothing to worry about. It may take several months or even a year or so for it to straighten out and be normal.

You should talk to your mom, though, or whoever your guardian is. They will need to buy you some pads (or other supplies), anyway.Health Question & Answer

Could be that or it could have been your hymen breaking. Anything can cause that to happen but it's nothing to be alarmed about; totally normal and natural part of growing up and becoming a woman. If it was your period only your body will know when the next one comes. The days aren't always going to be exact, but the number is somewhere around 29/30 days, plus or minus a few depending on each person. Some people that are into sports might not get it as much while others get it normally. Main point being that you are you and there is no right or wrong answer. Welcome to growing up!

(And yes I know I'm a dude. I just remember all this from the many health classes in middle and high school and then again in college since I'm studying to become a teacher and I've had to take one of every subject pretty much.)Health Question & Answer

hey, firstly, shot on becoming a woman! haha

anyway, since i am guessing you are still on your period (yes that was your period), you should count about 28 days from the LAST day of your period. since this is your first one though, it may be irregular for a while, up to about 3 years, so always make sure you have protection with you in case it comes at an unexpected time! also, if you go away anywhere, take a good supply!

when you are on your period though, it pays just to relax. if you have any pains, take some pain relief or have a hot bath or heat pads. they help heaps.

i hope i helped heaps, i got my first period when i was 15, so i was a late bloomer, and happy period!!
