Virginal Ultrasound ?!

Question: Virginal Ultrasound .?
Hi women...Has anyone had a Virginal ultrasound.?
My periods stopped early last year and my doctor has told me it will be hard to conceive until they are back to normal.
She has taken some blood tests but is also sending me for a ultrasound as she say's i could have poly...? something ovaries.
I am not looking forward to this experience and i am wondering what to expect.
I have had a few years ago a biopsy following abnormal cells after a smear. So i am hoping it can't be any worse than that.Health Question & Answer

A vaginal ultrasound is simple. It does not hurt. I would rather have one of them than a pap smear! You can even lay your hand over the top of the sonographers hand and help guide it in at the right angle if you feel more comfortable doing so. There will be a screen and you will be able to see things internally. Google it and you can see how to read the screen before you go so you will know a little what they are seeing. Good luck hon. Hope things work out for you. You sure can tell God is a man by the way he made our bodies!!! lolHealth Question & Answer

a vaginal ultrasound is not as bad as it sounds...I to had to have one at this beginning of my second pregnancy and I was freaked out that it would be really embarassing and uncomfortable, but it wasn't bad at all...when you go in the room they will ask you to take off your clothes from the waist down and then they will give you a big sheet to drape across yourself to keep covered, then they will put your feet in stirrups and insert an instrument right into your vagina, actually my ultrasound tech had me put it in myself, and then after it was in she took hold of it, it's an ultrasound room so the lights are off, and its dark and you have a sheet completely covering you, so it's not embarassing at all...and trust me I am a really shy person who hates going to the doctor and it didn't bother me. Just take a few deep breaths and it is over before you know it. Oh, also it doesn't hurt, so don't worry about any pain or anything and don't forget to shave your legs!Health Question & Answer

I'm hoping the word Virginal in your question is a typo. I'm going to assume you meant Vaginal Ultrasound.

Vaginal Ultrasounds are not that bad, a little pokey and maybe a little uncomfortable but not painful. The disease the doctor is talking about is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS for short. DONT go doing a bunch of research and stuff on PCOS until the doctor confirms this diagnosis. Most of it is pretty heartbreaking if you want to be a mother someday. There is a little bit of hope and drugs out there that can help, but dont go freaking yourself out until you have a definite diagnosis.Health Question & Answer
