Question: Colposcopy help pleasE.?
Last year I had 2 pap tests done which both indicated abnormal cells which I was told was nothing to worry about at all but my doctor sent me to get a colposcopy done and today my Gynecologist said to me that there are abnormal cells over a very big area and that they appear to be worse then the pap tests let on so she did a biopsy..
I'm just a little worried.. I didn't ask questions because I didn't know what that meant and I was a little freaked out so I just wanted to get out of there...
But is it possible that I could have cervical cancer or do you think the cells are just a higher grade.?

It is possible that the cells could be cancerous cells, but there is also the chance that they could not be. I had to have a colposcopy and a biopsy done about a year ago and both came back fine. If you are really worried, I would give the dr's office a call. I was the same as you. When she first told me I had to have some extra testing done I didn't ask any questions because I wasn't sure what was going on. Later, I called the dr's office and my dr. personally called me back and answered any questions I had. Best of luck to you!Health Question & Answer
