Question: If it's possible to ovulate during period....?
I'm trying to figure out when I ovulate and heard it's possible to have ovulation during your period. If thats true, then wouldn't it be hard to tell if there's cervical mucus during your period.? ...help please & thanks!Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It is very possible to ovulate when you are on your period, although that typically happens when you have realy short cycles. If you have a typical 28 day cycle, you should ovulate on or around day 14. If you have longer cycles, you usually ovulate about 14-16 days before your next period. That is why the term Two Week Wait (TWW in the infertile world) was made, its the amount of time from ovulation when pregnancy is possibe to when you essentially find out you are pregnant There are a few things you can do to find out if/when you ovulate. You can take your temperature every single morning (BBT) before you get out of bed, your resting body temperature, and chart it. As soon as you see the temperature drop then spike the next day or two, you ovulated. Or you can spend money on ovulation predictor kits and pee on a stick around the time you think you ovulate, they will give you a line or a smily face and are covered by most FSA plans for reimbursement.

As far as cervical mucous and positioning, they both change throughout your cycle, so if you are not sure on what you are looking for, you'll most likely be confused as to what you need to be feeling for. And just know that it is possible to be very regular and not ovulate (as is my case) which will make conception impossible until you actually see a doctor about it. If you are trying to get pregnant, just know that you only have a 15-20% chance of concieving every month under ideal conditions, so if it doesn't happen right away, don't get discouraged. And there is nothing wrong with seeing a doctor to make sure everything is ok.

And the guy above me... seriously, a woman does not ovulate right before her period (typically) unless she has extremely short cycles. Did you pay attention in freshman health class.?Health Question & Answer

well ovulating can happen any time. but usually its 10 - 14 days after your period.
you can buy ovulating testing kits (like pregnancy tests) if yiu are finding it hard to conceive.
