I had one at age 35y and they left my ovaries and said that will be good until Menopause. But I was told menopause will come earlier(within 10yrs for me the doc said).
After the surgery I did cry at weird things like news events and commericals. I had night sweats for about 5weeks then it was ok but after the 6weeks recovery my sex life with my husband got better> Sex was great, i was more relaxed because the thought of having a kid wasnt there anymore. My husband loved it, he said it felt better, and he didnt worry about hurting me. I got horny and we had much more sex and its was so much better that i was relaxed. Things are still that way years later .
I think sex is better for women after because your mind isnt worried about anything after that. The key is to let her recover and let her know you are there for her and tell her and show her she is still sexy because it can make you feel like you lost a piece of being a women. Emotional swing, if it is a hysterectomy only, and not oopherectomy(removal of ovaries). Yes but this would be due to effects of :
1 )anaesthetic
2) psychological..loss of femininity .
3) trauma. Major operation in terms of physical intervention.

is she getting her whole uterus taken out or is she just having a partial where they take the uterus out but leave an ovary.? see, i had a partial a couple of years ago and they left one ovary. (the other one was cystic) leaving an ovary means she wont have to take hormone pills. that means she will still get horny on her own. she'll still get urges.Health Question & Answer
