Why am I Spotting while on the pill?!

Question: Why am I Spotting while on the pill.?
I am on birth control and have been for almost two years.
I take my pill every single day around the same time each morning. (There is no more than about an hour difference to when I take it each day) I started spotting for the first time ever while on the pill about two days ago, and it's still going on. One of my friends said it could be break through bleeding because it has been going on for so long, and it almost seems like I am having an extreamly light period.

Why did this happen.? Do I need to switch birth controls.?
details and answers please.
I'm concerned :\

and Yes, I am going to go see my doctor as soon as I can.Health Question & Answer

I'm glad you are going to see your doctor and not living your life by answers on yahoo. also, you have nothing to worry about. You definitely need to change pills. The one you are on might be too light in hormone doses. Everybody reacts different. If you just started this pill then give your body a couple of months to get used to it. After a few months if you are still spotting then you will need to change pills. Spotting is common, but shouldn't happen often. When you are on the right pill for your body the spotting will stop. What a pain, huh.? If boys only knew the half of it!Health Question & Answer

I had that same problem after I had been on the same pill for a few years. Turned out that I needed a new pill because my body had more or less rejected the old one. It's normal, I mean, you can't stay on the same pill forever. It's a good idea going to the doctor. Even if it is just "break-through" bleeding, it's better to know than not to, right.? Good luck!Health Question & Answer

it sounds like break through bleeding.. it happens to me ever so often.. its from the birth control nothing to worry about once it happened for 2 weeks.. I was irritated!Health Question & Answer
