I use my finger and use OB tampons.
They're smaller, and in my experience, less likely to leak (and I have heavy flow). They're also more environmentally friendly, and that's always a plus.
I always had a problem with tampons w/ applicators not fitting well inside me. I could always feel them there, and they seemed too long. OB tampons worked like a charm though, but they do take some getting used to.Health Question & Answer

its a lot smoother going in and you dont accidently scratch your insides (ew)
