Girls I need tampon help?!

Question: Girls I need tampon help.?
okay I'm 14 and I've always used pads and I guess you could say I'm very "tight" down there. My hole is so small I can't even really see it. I'm terrified of trying tampons but at the same time I want to try it. Most of my friends use them. So from a scale of 1-10 how bad was the pain when you inserted your first tampon. Please keep it clean.Health Question & Answer

How do you insert a tampon.?

You may be worried and nervous about using your first tampon. Talk to your mom or a friend who has used tampons. It is important to first learn how to use a tampon and then, just relax! The more you relax, the easier the insertion will be. When you are nervous, your muscles tense up, making insertion even harder. For your first time, you may want to try using a tampon when your menstrual flow is heavy; this should allow the tampon to glide in more easily. Choose the smallest size tampon for the first time. By following these simple guidelines, and those that come with your package of tampons, your first experience with tampons should be easy.

Sit or stand in a comfortable position. Some women prefer to place one leg on the toilet seat or tub, while others prefer to squat down. After you find a position that is most comfortable for you, hold the tampon with the fingers that you write with. Hold the middle of the tampon, at the spot where the smaller, inner tube inserts into the larger, outer tube. Make sure the string is visible and pointing away from your body.
With your other hand, open the labia (the folds of skin around the vaginal opening) and position the tampon in the vaginal opening. (See picture 1 below).
Gently push the tampon into the opening, aiming for the small of your back. Stop when your fingers touch your body and the applicator, or outer tube, is completely inside the vagina. (See picture 2 below).
Once the applicator or outer tube is inside of you, use your index finger to push the inner tube (the tube where the removal string is visible) through the outer tube. This pushes the tampon into the vagina.
Once the inner tube is all the way in, use your thumb and middle finger to remove the applicator or outer tube. (See picture 3 below). Make sure that the string hangs outside of the vaginal opening. Later, when you are ready to remove the tampon, hold the string and gently pull it downward until the entire tampon is out.

If the tampon is inserted correctly, you should not feel it. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, you may have inserted the tampon incorrectly or the tampon may not be placed far enough into the vagina. If this happens, just remove the tampon and start again with a new tampon. Remember that practice makes perfect. If you don't get it on the first try, your second try will most likely be successful. Instead of getting frustrated and giving up, relax and try again!

What if I still don't succeed.?

If you don't succeed after several times, see your health care provider. It may be that you were born with a very small opening in your hymen and you can't insert tampons. This is true in only about 2% of teens, but it could be a problem.

A mirror is often helpful so that you can see where your vaginal opening is. Sometimes, even using a small amount of vaginal lubricant (K-Y Jelly) on the end of the tampon will help the first one glide in.Health Question & Answer

I've got a small frame as well, and I found it very painful (probably 8-9), but this was ONLY the first time, and it was because I didn't do it correctly.
- buy the smallest tampons you can find (NOT regular ones; try mini, or tampons for very light flow)
- practice inserting them during your period, preferably while you are bleeding a fair amount
- don't try inserting them after a shower, or any other time when your vagina is clean or dry; the blood lubricates the tampon and makes it much easier and less painful to insert and remove

Good luck!Health Question & Answer

Inserting the tampon should never be painful even if you are a virgin or very tight. It might just feel a little awkward at first.
Make sure to use an applicator that has a plastic rounded tip...it will slide in easier. Just move it around a little until it starts to slide in then gently/slowly push it in, then when its all the way in, inject the tampon. (the tampon box has instructions.)
also, not to make it dirty or anything, but if you are really dry down there it will have more resistance. If you move it around a little, your body's natural lube will allow it to slide in.Health Question & Answer

it doesn't hurt at all ill even give you directions!:)

I was always afraid to use one, cause of the pain and everything. After my boyfriend started fingering me, I felt that my hymen was broken enough for a tampon so that was when I started to use tampons. Now they are awesome. If it hurts or is uncomfortable, it is in wrong. I don't use applicators, because then it is hard to tell what position it is, so at first just use your finger to feel around. Good luck! it takes time and practice to start using them comfortably.Health Question & Answer

everyone's hole is very small at first, but you'd be surprised how it stretches.
it honestly didn't hurt that much to put it in the first time...
maybe a 4 or 5 at most. just make sure your not using a tampon that
is too big. if you just want to practice putting one in you could probably even use a slender or light tampon so the discomfort is even less. just relax your muscles and slide it in...i was freaking out the first time too, but it gets easier. i suggest you use them, their more comfortable and wayy less messy.
i hope i could help!Health Question & Answer

you can use lights which are the smallest if your worried about that. It was a weird feeling but remember that its not in right if you can feel it. Keep shooting until you cant feel it, thats when you have it in the right place. OB tampons dont have an applicator so you might like those better... really its a personal preferenceHealth Question & Answer

I don't really remember how bad it hurt, because I am 27 now. But I can give you some advice. Use plastic applicators, they don't hurt as bad. also, when you are new at it, place one of your legs on the toilet seat, it will make it easier to insert. Not trying to be nasty but it will make it alot easier for you. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt that bad.Health Question & Answer

just try it. if you're having trouble finding the hole, maybe use a mirror to guide you...thats what i did xD ahah
use a small one, with a comfortable-looking applicator :P ahaha...
spread your legs out it will help open your..opening and make it more comfortable going in
it may take a few tries...it took me like an hour to get it in i was so scared, but they are sso much better than pads..
