it's pretty common. what happens is you get your PAP results back and if they're abnormal they'll do a colposcopy which is where they look at your cervix using a colposcope which has a magnifying lens and light to get a better look at your cervix and if they think something is abnormal they will take a biopsy of your cervix to look at under a microscope in search of abnormal cells. this determines if any further procedures need to be doneHealth Question & Answer
