I need to see a gynecologist ASAP, but have no health insurance, please HELP?!

Question: I need to see a gynecologist ASAP, but have no health insurance, please HELP.?
Sorry if this is TMI:

I'm 22 yrs old, and have always had heavy - longer lasting periods. There have been times when my period has lasted up to a month.

This time, it has been over a month and a majority of the time it has been VERY heavy bleeding. I have also passed some large blood clots. I take iron to help replenish my RBC.

My mother is dying of cancer, and it has been extremely hard and I have been VERY stressed, so I know this could be the cause - but I'm so tired of it. Tired of leaking and bleeding and ugh. I feel like I need to see a gynecologist BUT

I have no health insurance, and I just lost my job, meaning I have no money.

I looked up clinics in my area but there are none! All we have here in North Carolina are nextcares or urgetcare - which doesn't specialize in womens health.

Please help. Any advice. Anything. Please. I don't have anyone to turn to, no one to lend me money, nothing.Health Question & Answer

I know how you feel. I went through the same thing! After I had my 2nd daughter, I started a period that just simply never ended. I lived with it for a year and a half because I didn't have insurance.
First of all, bravo for taking the iron. Wish I'd realized that! I was mildly anemic when I finally did see the doc. Secondly, you may have fibroids or something like that- they are rarely dangerous, it's the excessive bleeding that's the problem!
I think you should go to your local clinic. A family doc can check you out and prescribe birth control to control the bleeding. Then, you can bargain with them to lower your bill, and set up payment arrangements. I recommend a family doc because they're cheaper than gynos. Your clinic probably also has a program to help uninsured people get the care they need. Call around! It doesn't hurt to ask.
But, if you absolutely can not get in, read up on the things that cause excessive bleeding to ease your mind. You'll find the likely causes won't kill you or cause any permanent damage. That's how I got through that year and a half without going insane.
I'm sorry you have to deal with it, it sucks, and I know exactly what you are going through!Health Question & Answer

According to HIPAA, you have the right to know everything you can about your healthcare, and the healthcare you are going to recieve, are about to recieve, have recieverd, and will recieve, anywhere you go. It also tells you thast you have the right to know how to pay for a procedure, over time, and such. if you wish, i could e-mail you a copy...Health Question & Answer

Planned Parenthood might be your only bet...

however, if your periods are that serious, but might send you to a regular doctor anyway. periods should never last that long. This sounds more than just an irritating condition, this sounds serious....

If i were you, I'd suck it up and see a real doctor. Insurance or not, your health is important.Health Question & Answer

Is there a planned parenthood in your area.? We have them in the northwest, and they are free to low cost specializing in woman's health. Try looking them up and see if they are in your area. If they cant help you, I'm sure they can give you resources to places that will.Health Question & Answer
