Does the cream/gel work as well as th flagyl pill for bacterial vaginosis?!

Question: Does the cream/gel work as well as th flagyl pill for bacterial vaginosis.?
Today, my ob/gyn when i told her about my discharge/fishy odor symptoms, wrote me a prescription for a cream or gel (sorry haven't picked it up yet, not quite sure what the name of it was) She said use the applicator and insert the cream in the vagina for 5 nights right before bedtime. I was curious if this could possibly work full effect when i've been having those symtoms for over a year(never got the chance to tell her that much!) is it possible with in 5 days i'll still have discharge and fishy odor.? She told me the flagyl makes people throw up, which my mother said she took it about 2 years ago and NEVER threw up... Is it possibly ill need a stronger dose of something, and which works better.? Cream/gel or pills.?

*also* I had an std test done today (pap smear, than blood drawn) how long will the results take to get back.?Health Question & Answer

I was prescribed the EXACT same stuff. Yes it works! I had discharge/fishy odor for a long long time before I finally got the nerve up to tell the doctor. Probably six months. He prescribed me the gel that you insert with an applicator for five nights. And it was gone!! That was about 4 months ago and haven't had one problem since. A little side note about that stuff, you put in in before bed and then the next day (well the next 5 days) it kind of comes out as white clumpy stuff. It's pretty gross and I wore a panty liner and didn't have sex for that week. But yeah it totally works:)

About the test results, if you test positive for an STD they will call you immediately. If it's all normal they usually just send you something in the mail. This is what my gyno does at least. But my doctor always says "don't assume no news is good news" and tells me to call the office if for some reason I don't hear back within a couple weeks. But trust me, they'll call if there's a problem.Health Question & Answer
