Why do I have a super long period?!
Question: Why do I have a super long period.?
Okay, well I started my very first period when I was 11 years old. I just turned 14 this year and my periods last for at least 3 weeks and a couple days. I probably use up to 20-30 pads for one whole period. I am also not sexually active. Why do I have long periods.? I don't cramp.? Could it be menorrhagia.? Will birth control help.? Could this effect my ovaries in some way causing me to not have a child in the future.?Health Question & Answer

You are a teenager. Your body is going through LOTS of hormonal changes. You're period will be irregular for a while until your body adjusts and develops fully.
I wouldn't worry about it. If your period continues to be an issue I'd see your doctor. They'll put you on the pill and that will regulate you. It shouldn't stop you from having children either. Your ovaries will be fine, it's your uterus that bleeds. Your uterus also might have an infection. So if you masturbate using toys or things the same I'd go see a doctor.
But don't worry about it right now. if you have the same problem during your next period just ask your doctor and they'll fix you right up. if worst comes to worse you'll have to have an ultra sound. But that's a very low chance.
