If your periods have changed significantly like that without the addition of something like birth control, you need to visit a gynecologist.. Your flow should not randomly slow down and become painful if it has always been heavier and painless..

That being said, the 2 best things to work out cramps are heat and exercise.. Put a water bottle or a small electric blanket on your lower belly for a few minutes at home when you can, and it will give a lot of relief.. While it seems difficult to move during nasty cramps, the best thing to do is move.. The reason you feel cramps (usually) is because the uterus is having trouble sloughing off it's lining and is contracting more violently.. By exercising you help to knock off the lining, making your cramps less painful..

As far as pads for playing sports...... I agree with the previous user.. Good luck with that, maybe an adult diaper.? Pads just aren't good for playing sports.. Try using tampons in combination with a light pad.. You will feel less bulky and able to move around better in addition to feeling more confident that you won't have any leaks!

But once again, most importantly, if your flow has been normal for a long time, and suddenly changed without an introduction of something prescribed by a gynecologist, you need to visit one.. There are a lot of serious problems that occur in the female body parts, and change is often a sign of them..Health Question & Answer

For period cramps, try eating something light and healthy during the period, something which doesn't produce cramps (fruits and vegetables)..
As pad, I recommend Always Ultra Plus or even Night.. Try wearing 2 tight panties.. On the first you put the pad, and the second just keeps tight the first one with the pad.. Even so, when you have heavy blood flow, you need to change the pad every 2-3 hours (when you do sport..)
I don't recommend tampons (especially when playing sports), because they can harm your cervix..Health Question & Answer

chocolate and peanut butter helps me..
I also find it helpful to lay on my stomach while cramping and/or buying some of those self adhesive thermal patches for your abdomen.. They do wonders!

I dont know what pad would be best, but i would think maybe using a tampon and then a thin pad on your panties just in case there is leakage..Health Question & Answer

use pads with wings and the ones for heavy or overnight type and you will need to change more often........
As for the cramps stay a way from caffeine products, like chocolate, soda's, tea's and coffee............ the caffeine makes me have bad cramps......Health Question & Answer

Put something warm/hot like a hot water bottle on your stomach.. Health Question & Answer
