All girls get different types of pain during their time of the month.
She can go to the doctor and get medication for this type of thing. Sometimes the doc might recomend her taking the pill, this helps A LOT!

It is a very tough thing for a girl who is just beginning to menstruate to ask their mother for help regarding it. It is not uncommon to have a little bit of pain during your period, but a lot of people don't normally double over with pain during a cramp.

A gynecologist is someone who specializes in the female reproductive system and the problems that can be associated with the system. It is helpful to talk with a gynecologist about problems like this that may come up. I will give you some links that you can read up on endometriosis. This should be able to help you understand better some of the problems.

I think that you should encourage her to check with her doctor, who in turn can suggest a gynecologist for her to see. She should get a physical to make sure that everything is okay.Health Question & Answer

I used to have very painful cramps with my period too. They were so bad that I couldn't go to school some days! I told my mom and we talked to my doctor. I started taking birth control pills to make my period more regular and reduce the symptoms too.

It's totally normal for girls her age to have questions/concerns about their bodies! If she is in a lot of pain, the best thing she can do is talk to her mom, and possibly go see a doctor. The doctor will ask some questions and be able to help figure out the best way to help relieve the pain. She can see a female doctor if that makes her comfortable.Health Question & Answer

Young girls don't really recognize the difference between a normal menstrual cramp and extreme pain until they are at least mid teens. Most girls get cramps, and from both personal and professional experience, young girls get it worse than adults. However, if she really does feel it is debilitating, or extreme, maybe she should ata least tell her mom, who could buy her some midol and/or take her to the doctor. Health Question & Answer

i had the same problem at that age. if she is having heavy bleeding and has been checked then it could just be dysmenorrhea which is pretty much a fancy way of saying extreme pain during menstruation. my doctor put me on low dose pills to regulate things and had me take meds a few days before it was to occur to help with the pain. but she NEEDS to tell someone else because it could be something serious like endometriosis or something which could hurt her later on. she and her doctor can decide whats best for her or maybe its time to see a gyno.?Health Question & Answer

It's wonderful that you care so much about her to help her. But she does have to talk to her mum...

no you shouldnt be worried, everyone gets pains when they have there period and it is very normal if its realy bad go to the nerest doctor and get some pain killers.Health Question & Answer

why should you be worried she is the one with the pain.Health Question & Answer

When I was that age I had the same pain... But i grew out of it and she will too :)Health Question & Answer

It's normal to have light pain, but not normal to have extreme pain. That can be a sign of a medical condition such as endometriosis. She should go to the doctor, to get stronger pain killers, and medications like birth control pills to bring down the pain.

Here are some sites about endo. It could very well be another condition too, so it's really important that she sees a doctor. She can bring her mom along with her. I know that girls that age are embarrassed to talk about their periods, but cramps is one thing that isn't as hard to talk about.

A "gyno" is a gynecologist, but she can just go to a family doctor at this point. Many family doctors also do gynecological exams.

If she is saying she wants to die, in my opinion you should just tell her mother for her. Don't give specifics, just say that she is in a lot of pain and needs to see a doctor.Health Question & Answer
