Drink cranberry juice if you are not allergic, plenty of water. Leave off sodas and acidic juices. Have your doctor do a culture/sensitivity of your urine to determine the proper antibiotic for your UTI or check for possible yeast infection. You really need to see your doctor again ASAP. Letting a bad UTI continue can lead to Sepsis. Hope you get the treatment you need. If you are not satisfied or your symptoms do not clear, see a urologist. Good luck.Health Question & Answer

Has anyone done a urine culture to determine what type of bacteria is causing your infection.? When a culture is done, the bacteria is tested against several types of antibiotics, after which a sensitivity report is generated. This report informs the doctor of the most effective antibiotic to treat the bacteria you have. There is also a possibility that the infection may not be bacterial. Occasionally yeast can cause UTI's as well.
In addition, the fact that you have blood in your urine is concerning. You may have an infection in the kidneys rather than just the bladder or you could even have a kidney stone that is causing the bleeding. You should inform your doctor that you are continuing to have symptoms so that these possibilities can be explored.Health Question & Answer
