Question about the IUD Mirena?!

Question: Question about the IUD Mirena.?
I recently had the Mirena IUD placed. They said I should expect spotting over the next 6 months. I have been bleeding though like a full blown period for 2 weeks now. They did say that the Mirena will thin out the lining of the uterus... could this be what is happening or should I be concerned.?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.Health Question & Answer

Seems like your Body may be trying to reject it and it is normal so it will try to flush it out by bleeding. If it continues for another week and is still heavy go see a DR. Check the location of your IUD to make sure its not slipping out. I bled for 2 weeks to after insertion but it began decreasing in week 3 and I was period free from that point onHealth Question & Answer

the body sees the Mirena IUD as a foreign object it needs to remove..

your uterus is contracting causing bleeding in an attempt to remove or expel the IUD.

your body will eventually adjust to the IUD and thats when the bleedign will stop..

this is not the way the mirena thins the lining of the uterus... the thinning of the lining happens over time. as your body goes through its cycles it will produce less and less uterine lining.

i dont think you should be concerned... but if you start feeling light headed or start experiencing any other issues because of the bleeding go back to your doctor...Health Question & Answer
