When a female gets her period, and she's an athlete should she exercise regulary?!

Question: When a female gets her period, and she's an athlete should she exercise regulary.?
What if this occasion is very important like a basketball tourny, should this person keep exercising with her period. I heard tampons are useful but I don't trust it. I also heard from my parents that if you exercise when you have your period, something about blood lose is very barmful and something about maintaining enough blood in your system is good...I'm not quite sure what they mean by that. Could someone clearify it for me.? Thanks.Health Question & Answer

Ofcourse! Your period shouldn't hold you back at all! If you're really worried, just change the tampon in close proximity of time to your game. And yes, tampons work best for such extremely physical sports as basketball. You'll be ok. :)Health Question & Answer

You shouldn't be bleeding enough or even quickly enough for it to harm you in any way. Tons of women are still active while they are on their period. I used to do gymnastics practice while I had it. Tampons are really fine and great to use for things like that. Once you get used to them there is really no going back to pads. They are much more convenient, comfortable, and much less messy than using pads while doing sporting activities, especially when you are sweating. I would advise you to give it a try, if you want to then read the instructions on the box before trying them for the first time. Just be sure not to leave one in for over eight hours. Try using Tampax Pearl brand, they are great for easy insertion and comfort.

But anyways, you can just wear a pad if you want to. If you feel fine (no cramps) then you should be fine going out to do any sports you want to. Just make sure to stay hydrated like you normally would!Health Question & Answer

Tampons are designed to allow woman to get on with everyday life during their periods.

Back in biblical times woman had to lock themselves away from the world till it was over - we have come a long way since then. Exercise does not affect any blood flow etc - if the blood is going to come, it will come regardless of exercise or not. If you get period pains, most doctors tell you exercise is good becasue it gets the blood flowing through your body.

Don't let you period stop your life!!!Health Question & Answer

well gee that's weird. Exercise is actually good when you're on your period. It helps get rid of cramps and keeps you from getting too bloated. I usually use tampons, but if you are afraid something will happen just use a maxipad. or both. So maybe next time you'll be a little more trustworthy of the good old tamp. i love those things! haha but yah, I played a soccer tournament in white shorts for three days and nothing bad ever happened. (and it's a pretty physical sport) i'm sure basketball will be fine.Health Question & Answer

When you are on your period, exercise can be a wonderful thing. As for the blood thing, when you exercise, your heart beats faster and it circulates your blood faster as well. Besides, exercise does wonders for warding off cramps.Health Question & Answer
