Pain after insertion of Mirena coil?!

I had a Mirena coil inserted exactly one week ago today. I am still experiencing cramping, which feels like the worst period pains I have ever had or maybe worse. I have had no children, so my Doctor explained to me that it may be 'uncomfortable' [ha, don't you love that.?!] for a few hours. However, the pain I'm experiencing now is a little less intense than it was during the first two days of insertion - Is this normal.? How long will it go on for.?
I've also noticed that I've been very emotional over the past week. Has this happened to anyone else.? Health Question & Answer
