Hemorrhoids are the swelling of veins in the rectum or anus. They basically look like little grapes coming out of your butt. I've never had them, but my mom's dog had one once.

They are usually caused by straining when trying to poop (like when you're constipated) and they happen more easily during pregnancy. Excessive consumption of alcohol or caffeine can cause hemorrhoids. The best way to avoid getting them is to drink plenty of water (or other liquids) and make sure fiber (fruits, vegetables and cereals) is included in your diet.

Hemroids, commonly known as piles and often spelled hemorrhoids, is a skin condition characterized by swelling and inflammation of blood vessels (veins) in the rectal and anal area

Hemorrhoid symptoms are characterized by swelling of rectal/anal veins, pain, itching, irritation, and (in some cases) bleeding from the affected area. Bleeding occurs in case of internal hemorrhoids and the blood issued from the affected area with hemorrhoids is of bright red color. External hemorrhoids, on the other hand, are characterized by painful swelling and/or a hard lump close to the anus. For some people, hemorrhoid symptoms may reveal themselves as blood clots forming in the hemroidal tissue, a condition diagnosed as thrombosed external hemroids, which requires hemorrhoid treatment in the form of surgery. Both internal hemorrhoids and external hemorhroids are variations of the condition.

The development of hemroids has been attributed to several causes, nearly all acting by increasing the pressure on the rectal/anal veins over time and ultimately causing the hemorrhoids to swell and grow inflamed. Among the more important causes of hemorhoids are: digestive problems (diarrhea and constipation); fiber-deficient diet and low intake of fluids; obesity/excess weight; strenuous sports or exercise and lifting heavy objects; pregnancy (in women); hypertension (high blood pressure); and all inappropriate postures that exert a direct or indirect pressure on the vessels in the rectal/anal area. ****Pretty much pushing to hard when you try to have a bowel movementHealth Question & Answer
