yesterday i had really bad cramps and my bf had to take me home so i could take some pain relief..and then i forgot i ran out of tampons..so we went to the store and he said, "i would run in for u to get them...but..i think u should come in with me haha" and i didnt have any problem going in with him..but once we got to the tampon isle..he went over to the isle across from me and was lookin at movies and stuff and acted like he wasnt even with me for the 2 minutes i searched for the tampax plastic regulars haha and then we were walking to the cash register and i teased him a little "cmon hold them for me while i look at the clothes.?" and hahaha his face was priceless! i dont understand though..why is it so embarrassing for guys to buy their girlfriends tampons or pads.? i dont get it. i mean..i used to be embarrassed to buy em myself..but c'mon..i didnt think he'd be so immature about it! does anyone know why.?Health Question & Answer

You answered your own question. But I think it is more than immaturity, it is also not being educated on menstruation in women. Many guys only learn what they hear from their friends, and jokes about periods, and they don't think about it being a perfectly healthy, normal part of a female's anatomy.
My husband used to be the same way, but now doesn't think anything about purchasing them.

I don't mind it. The wife is more embarrassed than I am. She will put them in the card and then put something over them so no one will see them, but its no big deal. I have done the same with condoms, but eventually someone will see. It is funny that he won't, but you can always have fun with it. When you are at the check out, make sure the cashier hears you and tell him about the tampons in front of them. Make a joke about it, and just embarrass him.
