Question: How do i relieve thrush - serious answers only please.?
About a week ago out of nowhere i got a real itchy, sore and red vagina. I thought it may be thrush so i searched on the internet how u get it, and apparently the worst cause is antiobiotics, and ofcourse i am on really strong antibiotics at the moment for a throat infection.. i wake up in the night cos it stings and itches, and i think the more i itch the worse im making it but i cant help it it just hurts so much! :( Is there anything i can do apart from keeping it clean that will relieve the itching! i think my scratching is taking off the top layer of skin and its making it sting heaps when i go to the toilet now too :(

Get a prescription anti-fungal from your doctor. Just call the doctor that prescribed the antibiotics and tell them you need it. Most doctors know that if the prescribe strong antibiotics patients are likely to get vaginal or oral thrush and don't have a problem calling the prescription in without you having to come in again. Thrush is a fungus not an infection, so get an anti-fungal and it will get rid of it.
Normally you would want to stop taking the antibiotics too, but since you still need them, talk to your doctor. Maybe you could switch to a weaker dose and get some prescription strength anti-fungal for the thrush.Health Question & Answer
