i haven't had any problems up until the last year or so, but my nipples are always so sore. they get worse right around my period of course, but to the point i can't have any fabric touching them at all, or else i'm constantly in pain. if they are touched the slightest bit rough, they bleed like crazy, which is weird because they used to be able to take a lot of abuse. they are always really red, with the areola being a regular pinkish color. just wondering if this is really bad hormones, and/or nothing to worry about. thanx!!! That is definitely not normal. You should see your doctor as soon as possible. It's could be a sign of mastitis (an infection) or even breast cancer. I'm not trying to scare you, but please see a doctor soon!

If your nipples are bleeding, then you need to go to your doctor. this isn't normal. You didn't mention if you have a baby. If so, this can be the cause. But, if you don't have a baby, by all means go to a doctor. Health Question & Answer
I had problems with bleeding from my nipple and my milk duct was infected, I was in my late 30's. Then I had it happen again in my 50's and had to have a papillnoma removed from my milk duct. So go to the DR. and have it checked out.Health Question & Answer
