Long and TERRIBLE periods?!

Question: Long and TERRIBLE periods.?
While on my period, I have terrible cramps. I am currently taking Seasonique, and have been taking the same birth control for over a year. This medication has not made my cramps worse. My periods, when they come once every 3 months are so bad I can barely function. They are 7 days or longer, VERY heavy the entire time, and I have terrible cramps that no regular pain reliever (Midol, Pamprin, Motrin, Tylenol, Aspirin, etc.) seems to help. also, I notice that I pass several blood clots ranging in size from small (size of a dime) to large (size of a half dollar). I am extremely nauseous, weak, and tired the entire week I am on my period. The cramps seem to be the worst the first couple of days. Generally, I wind up leaving work early because I find it hard to stand or even sit in an upright position while I'm having these cramps. I have been experiencing this since I was about 18 and am now 23 years old. I have tried several different birth controls ranging from the patch to very high dosages of birth control, some that have different dosages of hormones every week, and others that have the same dosages all month. also, the difference in pain between using a tampon or pad doesn't really seem to vary.

Has your Doctor ever mentioned that you could have condition called Endometriosis. This can cause heavy painful periods and a whole host of other symptoms, which you may or may not also have. I suffer with Endo and i have very painful periods for the first few days of my period, as well as abdominal pain, nausea and fatigue. They need to find out the cause of your pain and if it is Endo then there are different treatment options available. Its normally diagnosed via a laproscopy and if any Endo is found it can be removed and a treatment plan put in place

You might want to consider the depo shot. That stops your periods completely. There is more of a chance of weight gain but it sounds like your debilitating periods would probably be worth risking putting on a little weight.Health Question & Answer

you can read below the detailed information about Seasonique and cramps including treatmentHealth Question & Answer

I recently just started seasonale (same thing as seasonique basically) but I haven't gotten to the placebo yet so no period yet. Anyway I used to get these HORRIBLE periods cramping and nausea I'd pass out sometimes and bleed heavily for a week to 9 days.I started using depo to stop it and it completely worked, no cramps, periods, nothing it was wonderful. Problem with it is you gain weight and you can't stay on it forever. I was on it for 7 years and it was time to get off of it which is the only reason I switched. Try depo it will make ALL your symptoms disappear, mine were gone the day after my very first shot.Health Question & Answer
